five easy design steps

Our five easy steps for getting the most out of the design process.

1. Preliminary Discussion/Initial meeting

At our initial contact we will discuss in a general way the overall project, describe our services to you, and get a feel for what you have in mind. In most cases we are able to give you a close estimate of the cost of designing and preparing the working drawings and other relevant documentation for your project. At this point we would invite you to our office to view drawings of some previous projects.

2. Site meeting and project assessment

At our first meeting at your property we will assess the suitability of your proposal, giving consideration to your neighbour’s windows etc, streetscape, access, and proposed project budget. At this meeting we will give a firm price for our services, which would be confirmed by email or mail the following day.

3. Preliminary Design

Once you have confirmed that you wish for Good Design Drafting to be involved in the design of your project, we will:

• Measure the site if required
• Prepare preliminary drawings including floor plan layouts and perspective(3D) views.
• We will either email them to you in PDF format for your consideration or invite you to our office to view the proposed project on our computers in 3D.

4. Final working drawings

Once you have marked the changes that you require on the preliminary drawings and faxed, emailed, posted them, or met with us, we will:

• Ring you to discuss the changes in detail before making the alterations.
• Then complete the final drawings ready to be submitted for a building permit.
• The finished drawings will include as needed for each individual project: Perspectives, Floor Plans, Elevations, Cross Sections, Enlarged Details, Site Plan, and General Notes.

5. Other Services, Building Permits etc.

We can also arrange by agreement: Setback Dispensations from council, Soil Tests, Engineering Computations, Building Permit, Site Surveying etc.

Some people are confident enough to handle these things themselves and others prefer us to provide a total service from design to permit, we are here to serve our customers and will gladly be involved as far or as little as our client wishes.
